STAYING SAFE:
COVID-19 ANTIBODY TESTS

FDA EUA APPROVED • HIGH ACCURACY • FAST RESULTS

Understanding your past exposure to COVID-19 and whether antibodies are present can offer peace of mind and help you make decisions regarding your personal health.

CHC Wellbeing is offering the Abbott Laboratories’ IgG antibody test. IgG testing doesn’t screen for active COVID-19 infections, but it can be used to help identify previous exposure to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the COVID-19 infection. The Abbott test has demonstrated high accuracy (99.6%) and has received FDA emergency use authorization (EUA).

NEED MORE INFORMATION?

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you determine if the IgG antibody test is right for you.

We are administering Abbott Laboratories’ SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Antibody IgG test. This test has received FDA
emergency use authorization (EUA).

IgG testing does not screen for active COVID-19 infections, but it can be used to help identify those who may
have been previously exposed to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the COVID-19 infection.

An intravenous blood draw is performed to collect the specimen in a serum tube. This specimen is then sent to
LabCorp labs for testing.

A positive result means IgG antibodies were detected in the sample provided. This suggests that the individual
has been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), however positive results may be due to past or present infection
with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.

While having antibodies present is typically a sign of immunity, evidence is still being collected to determine if
IgG antibodies provide protective immunity against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Experience with other viruses
suggests those with antibodies may be able to resume work and other daily activities. It is unknown how long
antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 will remain present in the body after infection.

A negative result means IgG antibodies were not detected in the sample provided. This suggests that the
individual has not been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 or has not yet developed IgG antibodies. Negative results do not
fully rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus, and should not
be used as the sole basis for treatment, patient management decisions, or to rule out active infection.

Results are available online in the CHC member portal 2-3 days from the time the specimen is picked up. A CHC member portal account is created when you register for the test online.

While evidence is still being collected, early published literature suggests that the Abbott Laboratories’ antibody
test has 100% IgG sensitivity (the true negative rate) and 99.6% specificity (the true positive rate). Please be aware
false positives/negatives are still possible and this antibody test is not intended as a primary diagnostic for
COVID-19 and does not necessarily prove or disprove full immunity to the virus.

The antibody test is $130, payable upon online scheduling. Accepted convenient payment methods include:

  • Credit Cards
  • Debit Cards
  • Prepaid Visa, Discover, MasterCard, American Express gift cards
  • Health Savings accounts (HSAs)
  • Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs)

We currently do not accept health insurance as a form of payment for IgG antibody testing. However, all patients will be provided an itemized receipt that can be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance carrier to verify the requirements for member claim submission.

Note: Charge on your statement will appear as "CHC Wellbeing Inc”

CHC's antibody screenings are available at a wide range of local lab facilities. To select the most convenient location for you, please register at app.chcw.com.

If you have felt ill or had a fever within the past 72 hours, you should not take this test. This test is also not
appropriate for individuals who have been tested and diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 7 days, directly
exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the past 2 weeks or those who are immunocompromised (have a
weakened immune system). This test is only available for adults, ages 18 and older.
